Financial Planning
Any good financial plan and investment strategy starts with a thorough understanding of a client’s lifestyle objectives and values. After 25 years of doing this kind of work we recognise that what is of greatest importance to most, if not all, of our clients is that they are able to sustainably live their desired lifestyle.Financial Planning Software is often used to help with this; by projecting a picture of a client’s financial future it is possible to “objectively” answer questions such as “Is a desired lifestyle sustainable?” “Could more be spent and if so how much?” and to help deal with catastrophe and Estate planning scenarios.
Investment Management
We help our clients understand the key principles that underpin the creation of a successful investment program. This improves the quality of their “investment experience”, as both goals and expectations are realistic.Investment portfolios are developed to deliver lifestyle objectives and to reflect ethical, environmental and social concerns, whilst taking into account the effect incorporating the latter may have on performance.
We will also bring to our clients’ attention, as they arise, opportunities to invest in commercially sound, early stage projects that have a particularly beneficial social and/or environmental impact and are typically not held in ethical funds. These types of projects often reflect the vision of ethical investing that many clients have when they think of investing in this way.
If you would like to receive a document explaining in more detail the approach we take to investing ethically please contact Barry Brown on 0207 614 1024.
Estate & Tax Planning
We help with Estate Planning in a variety of ways. This can include liasing with existing legal advisers, or introducing new ones, so that wills can be prepared and trusts set up etc. It can also involve us recommending inheritance tax efficient investment vehicles and setting up investments in trusts. To help with income and capital gains tax planning, we make use of tax efficient investments when suitable and liase with your other professional advisers such as your accountants when necessary. Finally tax mitigation experts can be called upon, if the situation justifies it.
Philanthropy and Charitable Giving
We can help facilitate any philanthropic aspirations our clients have by introducing them to, and helping them work, with specialists in this area. For example a client may have a desire to support a particular cause or charities working in a particular geographical area. We work with specialists who may be able to help by drawing up a shortlist of the most suitable charities.
Also by using the right mechanisms and structures giving can be made very tax efficient whilst both living and after death. Finally there are opportunities to become involved, financially and otherwise, in projects that aren’t charities or investments but sit somewhere in between.
It is unusual for all four of these components to be required at the same time; different phases and stages of life tend to bring one or another of these to the fore. By meeting with our clients regularly we can ensure that the consequences of any changes in their circumstance or plans and objectives are dealt with properly.
