Helm Godfrey wealth management adviser Susie Foottit received highly commended in the protection advice category at the prestigious Women in Financial Advice Awards.

Susie’s accolade is recognition for her dedication to providing quality protection advice, as well as raising its profile as a career for women.

Taking place at the Hilton Bankside on 3 July, the Women in Financial Advice Awards celebrates the achievements of women working in financial services, and this year attracted more than 1,100 nominations.

The 30-strong judging panel then whittled the entries down to a shortlist of around 250 names, covering categories such as protection, mortgages and investments, among others.

It is not the first time Susie has been recognised for her dedication to financial advice, having been named role model of the year at the inaugural Women in Investment Awards in 2017.

Outside of financial services, Susie is a lifetime patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust, recognition for her 12 years as vice-chair of the charity.

Susie said: “There are some truly amazing and inspirational women working in financial services today so it is a huge honour just to be nominated, let alone achieve highly commended.

“These awards are the perfect recognition for the hard work women put in every day to ensure their clients can achieve their dreams and life goals, and I feel incredibly honoured to be a part of it.”

Speaking at this year’s awards, Retirement Planner deputy editor Hannah Godfrey said: “The Women in Financial Advice Awards aims to encourage more women to work in an already dynamic sector that, nevertheless, still remains a long way short of fulfilling its true potential.

“This year we have read hundreds of inspirational stories of how women are making a real difference in changing company attitudes and encouraging diversity and inclusivity – stories of women founding businesses, creating new initiatives and taking up important roles outside of work in order to give back to their communities.”
